The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday arrested two individuals, including an engineer from the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) and a middleman, in a bribery case. The team apprehended both red-handed while exchanging a bribe amount of over 91 thousand rupees. The CBI reported that during the searches, nearly 2.39 crore rupees in cash were recovered from the premises of the engineer. The investigative agency has registered a case against the engineer and four middlemen who are allegedly involved in corrupt practices to provide DPCC consent to firms.
Mohammad Arif is a senior environmental engineer at the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) while Kishlaya Sharan Singh is the son of a middleman.The CBI registered the case on September 8 against Arif and four others, including a middleman, his son, a private firm proprietor, along with other unknown persons. The FIR alleged that Arif was involved in corrupt practices, accepting bribes in exchange for renewing DPCC approvals for private firms. The middleman facilitated these bribes, collecting money from firms and delivering it to Arif regularly.Following the arrests, searches were conducted at Arif's residence and office, leading to the discovery of cash and property documents.
