In Canada, an Indian- origin businessman Darshan Singh Sahasi was killed on Monday in Abbotsford, British Columbia. Sahasi was the owner of a textile company named Canam International. He was shot dead by assailants who arrived in a car and had been waiting outside his house. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang on Wednesday claimed responsibility for killing an Indian-origin Abbotsford-based industrialist and firing at the house of a Punjabi singer.Bishnoi gang member Goldy Dhillon claimed responsibility for the attack in social media posts which have since gone viral.Goldy Dhillon wrote in his post that Sahasi was involved in drug trade and refused to pay extortion money to the gang and even dared to take action, the post read.
Canadian authorities have launched an inquiry into the killing, though the motive and those involved have not yet been disclosed. Sahasi was a native of Rajgarh village near Khanna district in Punjab.
