Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved several proposals. These include PM-POSHAN scheme, Doubling of Nimach-Ratlam and Rajkot-Kanalus railway lines and listing of Export Credit Guarantee Corporation (ECGC) Ltd. through the Initial Public Offer (IPO) on the stock exchange. Briefing the media on the key decisions, union Minister Anurag Thakur said Cabinet has approved continuation of PM POSHAN for five years with a financial outlay of fifty four thousand crore rupees from the Central Government and thirty one thousand crore rupees from state governments and UT administrations. Cabinet has also approved continuation of the National Export Insurance Account (NEIA) scheme and infusion of 1,650 crore rupees Grant-in-Aid over five years. This move is to enable NEIA support project exports worth up to 33,000 Crore rupees. Cabinet approved doubling of Nimach-Ratlam railway line in Madhya Pradesh at a total estimated cost of Rs 1,095.88 crore. The government also gave its nod to doubling Rajkot-Kanalus railway line in Gujarat at a total estimated cost of Rs 1,080.58 crore, Thakur said.
Commerce and Industry minister Piyush Goyal said cabinet has approved 4,400 crore rupees investment in ECGC Ltd. in five years to provide support to exporters as well as banks. He said this move will help to create 59 lakh new jobs including 2.6 lakh in formal sector. Cabinet also approved listing of Export Credit Guarantee Corporation Ltd. (ECGC) through the Initial Public Offer on the stock Exchange.
