In Bihar, a new alliance in the form of BSP, Upendra Kushwaha led RLSP and small parties came up in an attempt to make the coming Assembly elections a triangular contest. The other two major alliances are BJP-JDU led NDA and RJD-Congress led Grand Alliance. BSP chief Mayawati said that Upendra Kushwaha will the CM face of this new 3rd front.
After walking out from RJD led Grand Alliance, followed by a big "NO" from BJP over his re-entry into NDA, this newly formed alliance of smaller parties has come as a breather for Upendra Kushwaha. There are reports that Kushwaha is also trying to rope in parties like Asaduddin Owaisi's AIMIM, Pappu Yadav's Jan Adhikar Party, Mukesh Sahni's Vikassheel Insaan Party, and Om Prakash Rajbhar's Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party into this new 3rd front.
According to political experts, Kushwaha led Front would have a little impact, because BSP has no base in Bihar. In the last election also the party failed miserably. So BSP is bound to depend totally on Kushwaha for some seats but the way RLSP Chief drifted away from both- NDA and Mahagathabandhan-shows his over enthusiasm. He wanted himself to be projected as CM candidate which was not possible in two alliances.Meanwhile Upendra Kushwaha hit out both Nitish Kumar-led NDA government and the previous RJD regime for their failure on the developmental front. The RLSP leader said that “The 15 years of the RJD government and the 15 years of the present NDA government are two sides of the same coin.”
In the cast ridden politics of Bihar, RJD commands support from a large section of the OBC Yadav community and Muslims. Its biggest partner in the grand alliance, the Congress has a section of Brahmins and Dalits as its support base. The Left parties, especially the Communist Party of India (ML-Liberation), have their own pockets of influence in central Bihar. The fourth constituent, although a much smaller one, is Mukesh Sahni’s Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) has some influence among the Nishad community in some pockets. RJD leader and former Dy.CM Tejashwi Yadav felt that the RLSP did not bring anything new to the table, in terms of either mass appeal or the larger caste dynamics.
Now the question is from where Upendra Kushwaha will cover extra miles? He will have to prove his utility also other wise his political carrier could become dismal. The experts have doubt that his new third front will give much headach to his old friends now his foes
