Bangladesh extends Covid lockdown till June 6

Centre has said that nearly 12 Crore doses of vaccine will be available in June this year for National COVID Vaccination Programme.
Union Health Ministry said, more than six crore nine lakh doses of COVID vaccines will be supplied to the States and UTs for vaccination of priority group of Health Care Workers, Front-Line Workers and person aged 45 years and above as free supply from Government of India.In addition, more than five crore 86 lakh doses will be available for direct procurement by the state and UTs and Private Hospitals. Vaccination is an important part of the comprehensive strategy of the central Government for containment and management of the pandemic, along with Test, Track, Treat and COVID Appropriate Behaviour. As part of the nationwide vaccination drive, Government has been supporting the States and UTs by providing them COVID Vaccines free of cost.The Ministry said, visibility for availability of vaccines for the entire month of June has been provided well in advance to States and UTs by Union Government. A total of over seven crore 94 lakh doses were made available for this month for national COVID vaccination programme.

-Government of India has been disseminating awareness of four national level helpline numbers created for the benefit of the citizens during the Covid-19 pandemic. Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is promoting awareness about these helpline numbers through its various departments.The National Helpline of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for Covid related queries is  -  1075, the Child Helpline Number of  Ministry of Women and Child Development is  - 1098.  For Senior Citizens, the  Helpline number of  the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment is - 14567 and it is for  Delhi, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu,Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.While the Helpline number of National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) for psychological support is  -  08046110007. Private TV and FM channels are also advised to promote awareness of these helplines by way of a ticker or such appropriate ways as they may consider at  periodical intervals, especially during prime time.

-In Maharashtra, there has been constant fear among the villagers for undergoing corona test and its treatment.To overcome this problem, Anjanwada gram panchayat started a unique initiative following which the village is successful in keeping Corona at bay during the second wave. Villagers of Anjanwada in Aundha taluka of Hingoli district were reluctant to undertake Covid-19 tests even if many of them suffered from severe symptoms.As a result the infection had spread rapidly in the village. To address the issue, Kiran Ghongade, a young sarpanch of village, has come up with a unique initiative to change the minds of villagers towards corona testing. The Gram Panchayat has decided to insure every person undergoing for Corona test with Rs. Five lakh insurance policy.The scheme has been launched by district  Collector Ruchesh Jayavanshi received  huge response from the villagers. Today Ajanwada village has no covid case. Impressed by the success of the initiative, district collector has ordered to implement this Anjanwada pattern of public awareness in the entire Hingoli district. 

-Centre has said that the Inflow of foreign aid to combat COVID 19 are being promptly dispatched to the States and Union Territories.Union Health Ministry said, Centre has been receiving international cooperation of COVID-19 relief medical supplies and equipment since 27th of last month from different countries and organisations.Cumulatively, 18,265 Oxygen Concentrators, over 19 thousand Oxygen Cylinders, 19 Oxygen Generation Plants, 15,256 ventilators, more than seven lakh Remdesivir vials and 12 lakh Favipiravir tablets were delivered through road and air.The Ministry said, the major consignments received in the last two days are from South Korea, Indian and Bahrainian Organisations, Indian Community in Shanghai and Indian Business and Professional Group in UAE.

-The Bangladesh has further extended the ongoing COVID 19 lockdown in the country by one more week till June 6. The notification for the extension was issued by the Cabinet Division on Sunday. Bangladesh declared a countrywide lockdown on April 5 which has been extended several times since then. The last lockdown extension was coming to an end on Sunday, May 30. Even though the spread of Corona in Bangladesh has remained under control, the government is taking measures  to prevent the spread of the virus in the country. Northwestern district of Chapainawabganj declared a 7-day long strict lockdown on 24 May after a sudden spurt in positivity rate going over 50 percent which subsequently declined to about 35 percent. The country has also detected 13 cases of B.1.617.2 variant of Coronavirus which was first reported in India. Detection of newer strains in the border districts has caused concern among the health experts in Bangladesh.
