27 E-Lok Adalats dispose off 2.51 lakh cases

In order to increase awareness against terrorism and militancy, government of Bangladesh has asked the mosque officials like the Imams and Muftis and other religious leaders to propagate ideas against these activities.The Religious Affairs Ministry of Bangladesh issued a circular asking the Imams of all mosques to deliver anti-terrorist and anti-militancy speeches before the Friday prayers.The circular says that these statements against terrorism and militancy based on the sayings of religious ures should be given regular publicity to disseminate the correct interpretation of the ures.The circular also orders district and local administrative officials and Islamic Foundation department to organise meetings at district and Upzila levels to ensure participation of all sections of society including heads of religious institutions to increase social awareness against militant and terrorist activities.Calling terrorism and militancy a global challenge, the circular said such activities hurt the image of all religious people. It said to control and eradicate terrorist and militant activities, increasing involvement of people from all walks of life is required. 

- Twenty seven E-Lok Adalats were organized in 15 States leading to disposal of 2.51 lakh cases from June to October this year. Over 12,686 cases were disposed off during this month so far resulting in settlement of 107.4 crore rupees through E-Lok Adalat. 
Legal Services Authorities creatively adapted to the new normal and moved Lok Adalat to the virtual platform. From June to October 2020, 4.83 lakh cases were taken up and 2.51 lakh cases disposed off resulting in settlement of 1409 crore rupees. To facilitate access to justice amidst the constraints placed by Covid-19 and various public health guidelines, the Legal Services Authorities have ingeniously integrated technology into conventional methods of justice delivery. 

-Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has said the Government aims at creating core global competencies in India by facilitating seamless integration of the automotive industry with the world. He said, Government is trying to create an ecosystem to accelerate the uptake of electric vehicles in the country. He was addressing a virtual conference.The Minister asked the auto industry to come together to work jointly towards achieving a broader national agenda of reducing pollution. Gadkari also elaborated a number of steps that the Government has taken to promote electric vehicles which include reduction in GST to 5 per cent. He also said, the Government is planning to set up at least one electric vehicle charging kiosk at around 69 thousand Petrol Pump across the country to induce people to go for electric mobility.

-Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' on Monday inaugurated 46 online AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) Academy Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs) to train teachers of higher education institutions. The FDPs will be conducted in 22 Indian states. On the occasion, Mr Pokhriyal said, in the year 2020-21, new thrust areas in the field of Engineering, Management, Life Skills, Design and Media have been incorporated. The online Faculty Development Programmes  will be conducted according to the new National Education Policy -2020. The Education Minister also informed that the London-based organization has recognized the FDPs as a world record, under which 1,000 online FDPs in over 100 emerging areas will benefit one lakh faculty members across premier institutions like IITs, NITs, and IIITs. This year the online FDP programme will cost 10 crore rupees.Professor Anil D Sahasrabuddhe, Chairman, All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE)  said that Digital learning and the increasing use of smart devices such as computers, smart phones, and tablets have enhanced student learning.

-In Chhattisgarh, three Maoists were killed in an encounter with Sashstra Seema Bal- SBB in Kanker district in tribal Bastar region on Monday. Police said the SSB team was deployed in the area to provide security for construction of Raughat railway line project. The security forces had an encounter with the Maoists after they triggered a blast to target the forces. The encounter lasted for about half an hour. After the gun-battle, the security forces found bodies of three Maoists, including a woman. Three rifles were also recovered from the encounter spot.  A constable of SSB was injured during the encounter.Meanwhile, five Maoists have surrendered before the police in Dantewada district. One of the surrendered Maoist was carrying a reward of Rs three lakh on his head.
