The Indian equity indices closed higher for the fourth straight session on Tuesday,following strong global market sentiments after expectations of rise in US debt ceiling. At close, the Sensex was up 122.75 points or 0.20 percent to close at 62,969.13, and the Nifty up 35.20 points or 0.19 percent to close at 18,633.85.
*Stocks and Sectors*
Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bajaj Finserv,Bajaj Finance,HCL Technologies and HDFC Life were top gainers on Nifty while losers were Hindalco Industries, Adani Enterprises,Tech Mahindra, Tata Steel and Sun Pharma, according to sources.
On sectoral front,selling was seen in the auto, energy, pharma and metal names, while buying was witnessed in the bank, capital goods, FMCG and information technology names.The BSE midcap and smallcap indices ended with marginal gains.
On 30th May'23,the Indian rupee falls 4 paise to close at 82.67 against US dollar.
