President Ram Nath Kovind,Prime minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday paid homage to the victims and security personnel who lost their lives in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.President in a tweet said that the nation will always be grateful for the bravery and sacrifice of the security forces who laid down their lives in the line of duty. Home Minister Amit Shah saluted all the security personnel who bravely faced the terrorists. He said the whole nation will be proud of their bravery and always be indebted to their sacrifice.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his tribute, said that India cannot forget the wounds of the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. Now, today’s India is combating terrorism with a new policy and new ways, Modi said. “I pay my homage to all those who died in the Mumbai attacks. Many brave police personnel were martyred in this attack. I also pay homage to them,” Modi said.
Meanwhile, the external affairs ministry summoned a senior Pakistani diplomat to demand the expeditious trial of those responsible for the carnage in the country’s financial hub. The attacks on Mumbai by a 10-member squad of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists, which began on November 26, 2008, resulted in the deaths of 166 people, including 26 foreign nationals. Pakistani authorities arrested seven LeT operatives, including operations commander Zakiur Rahman Lakhvi, but there has been little headway in their trial.
