Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya has urged States and Union Territories to ensure collectively through collaborative and multi-stakeholder efforts that no eligible citizen is left without the COVID-19 vaccine. Interacting with Health Ministers of all States and UTs to take forward the campaign of 'Har Ghar Dastak', he asked them to reach each corner and household and motivate people to take both the doses. The Minister on Thursday stated that at present 79 per cent of the adult population has got the first dose and 38 per cent of the eligible population has received the second dose. He also urged them to ensure that all the adult population is covered with the first doses during the campaign while those, who are due for the second doses, are also motivated to take it. He also asked States and UTs to rope in children for taking forward the message of full vaccination.
Mandaviya said, "We shouldn't think that COVID-19 is over. CoWIN can be used to prepare district-specific action plans." He also suggested to start Vaccination Centres at Bus Stations and Railway Stations especially in large metros. The Minister also cautioned all States and UTs that COVID-19 was not over saying cases are rising globally. Dr. Mandaviya assured the states of required vaccine supply.
