Union Minister Ashiwini Vaishnaw has said tha during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s third term, since June, a record pace of infrastructure projects has been approved. These include 43 railway projects worth Rs1,52,000 crore, 24 highway projects worth Rs2,18,000 crore, 8 metro projects totaling Rs1,31,31,000 crore, 4 new airports at Rs7,000 crore. Briefing the media in New Delhi, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the Prime Minister has strengthened the foundation of the country’s infrastructure as part of the vision of building a ‘Viksit Bharat’. The biggest beneficiaries of this infrastructure push are the middle class. Whether it is metro projects, highways, railways, or ports, every development benefits the middle class. Keeping this in mind, the Cabinet on Wednesday approved two highway projects worth Rs 20,668 crore.”

The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved two highway projects – the Six Lane Nashik – Solapur corridor and the widening of NH 326 in Odisha. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the Construction of a 6-lane greenfield access-controlled Nashik- Solapur-Akkalkot Corridor in the State of Maharashtra. The 374 kilometre highway will be built at a total Capital Cost of 19,142 crore rupees. He said this project will provide connectivity to important regional cities such as Nashik, Ahilyanagar, Solapur and Kurnool. This infrastructure is a significant step toward facilitating integrated transport infrastructure development under the PM Gatishakti National Master Plan principle.The government also gave its nod to widening and strengthening the existing 2-Lane to 2-Lane with Paved Shoulder of NH-326 in Odisha. The total capital cost for the project is 1,526.21 crore rupees.
