In Karnataka, Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Thursday inaugurated several development projects in Davangere district. He inaugurated Gandhi Bhavan, Police Public Residential School and Police quarters in virtual mode from GM Institute of Technology in Davangere. He also inaugurated a high- tech library in the Institute of Technology. Speaking on the occasion, the Home Minister pointed at the efforts made by the Central Government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi towards providing social security to different sections impacted by the pandemic. The destitutes, migrants, Dalits and tribals, he stressed, were provided necessary assistance by the government. Shah said that the appropriate and timely decision has mitigated the impact of the pandemic in the country. May it be a mammoth vaccination drive, providing necessary infrastructure in the health sector or providing free foodgrains to the poor, the Central Government has initiated a successful programme.

This was Shah's maiden visit since Bommai took over as Karnataka chief minister on July 28. The home minister exuded confidence that the BJP would come back to power by winning the assembly election due in 2023. Shah also heaped praises on BS Yediyurappa, whose resignation as chief minister on July 26 brought Bommai to power.
