Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said that if Artificial Intelligence is sprinting, then the regulations should also run the race equally. The Minister said this while launching Niti Aayog’s report on the roadmap of AI for Viksit Bharat and the Frontier Tech Repository in New Delhi on Monday. Ms Sitharaman cautioned about AI’s rapid growth, saying that people should have to be conscious and not sit back on ethics. Emphasising the need to have better cities to live in, Ms Sitharaman highlighted that AI is capable of providing in-situ solutions and delivering solutions that people have been waiting for decades. She further said that AI-assisted technologies should be adopted in all districts of India to bring development.

Minister of Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw, addressing the gathering, stressed the need to master future technologies and develop a talent pipeline. Underlining that the world is going through turbulence, the Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is growing rapidly. He further added that today’s India’s growth is inclusive, robust on the back of strong technology.

NITI Aayog CEO, BVR Subrahmanyam stressed the need to capitalise on technology, emphasising the country to be future-ready. He mentioned that the country cannot be Viksit Bharat without Frontier technologies. Subrahmanyam also highlighted the need to spot trends, create awareness and exploit technology trends and be ahead of the curve.
