The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested a Faridabad resident for harbouring terrorist Umar Un Nabi immediately before the Delhi terror bomb blast. Soyab of Dhauj, Faridabad (Haryana) is the 7th accused to be arrested in the case. NIA investigations have revealed that he had also provided logistical support to the terrorist Umar before the 10th November car bombing that killed several persons and injured many others outside the Red Fort in the national capital. NIA had earlier arrested six other key aides of the car bomber Umar over the course of its investigation in the same case. The agency continues to pursue various leads in connection with the suicide bombing, and has been conducting searches across states in coordination with the respective police forces in a bid to identify and track others involved in the gruesome attack. Efforts to unravel the entire conspiracy behind the deadly terror attack are continuing.
Umar, a medical professional associated with Al-Falah University in Faridabad, reportedly conducted chemical tests in his room on campus before creating the final Improvised Explosive Device (IED). One of the arrested suspects, Dr. Muzamil Shakeel, also affiliated with the same university, confirmed to interrogators that Umar experimented with substances that were later used in the blast.Investigators said the seizure revealed a white-collar network associated with Jaish-e-Mohammed operating across Kashmir, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. The agency had earlier arrested six associates of Dr Umar during the course of the investigation. The custody of Amir, one of the accused earlier arrested, was also extended by seven days.
