The film was based on Charlotte Bronte’s timeless novel (1847) ‘Jane Eyre’ and it was a superhit movie. 
Both Dilip Kumar and Madhubala were dating each other till 1955. 

The natural romance between both could be sensed and seen clearly during the shooting of this film.
Talat Mehmood, as we know sang from 1949 till 1955 mostly for Dilip Kumar (Devdas, Footpath, Aarzoo, Shikast, Daag, Tarana) till Mukesh took over in the films Mela and Madhumati. 
Talat was a readymade voice for Dilip Kumar, but Rafi finally took over as the permanent playback singer for Dilip Kumar. 

Bollywood people describe Talat’s voice as ‘silken' one !!
