The domestic share market traded low in volatile session on Tuesday as gains in IT, auto and realty stocks were offset by weakness in energy, FMCG, metal and banking counters.At close, the Sensex was down 69.86 points or 0.09 percent at 76,765.92, and the Nifty was down 10.60 points or 0.04 percent at 23,985.35.
TCS, Eternal ,Tech Mahindra ,Nestle India , and Cipla were the top gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Hindustan Unilever (HUL) , Bharat Electronics (BEL),Coal India , Tata Consumer Products , and NTPC .On the sectoral front,the performance was mixed, with Nifty IT emerging as the top performer, rising 3.2%, followed by Nifty Realty and Nifty Consumer Durables. Nifty Auto also ended higher, gaining 0.69%, while Nifty Pharma added 0.2, according to agency reports.The broader market ended on a mixed note, with the Nifty Midcap 100 index edging up 0.1%, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 index slipped 0.2%.
Rupee Close:
On 28 July'26,the Indian rupee stayed on upward track for the third straight session and ended 11 paise higher at 95.88 (provisional) against the U.S. dollar on Tuesday, supported by lower crude oil prices amid signals of easing West Asia crisis.According to Forex traders, the sustained outflow of foreign capital amid selling pressure in domestic equity markets, as well as an elevated dollar index ahead of the U.S. Federal Reserve's policy decision, capped gains for the local currency.
