Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal held a series of meetings with senior executives of leading US companies in New York, exploring opportunities to deepen investment, partnerships and business engagement with India, according to government agency.During his visit to the United States, Goyal met Blackstone President and COO Jonathan Gray and Chairman of Blackstone’s International Private Equity business Prakash Melwani. Discussions focused on expanding Blackstone’s investments and partnerships in India across key sectors.
Goyal also held talks with Neuberger Berman Chairman and CEO George Walker, along with senior members of the company’s leadership team. The discussions focused on deepening investment linkages with India and strengthening partnerships in financial and wealth managementGoyal met The Estée Lauder Companies President and CEO Stéphane de La Faverie to discuss opportunities for expanding the company’s presence in India through greater manufacturing and sourcing, as well as leveraging the country’s growing beauty and personal care market.Goyal also met IBM Chairman and CEO Arvind Krishna. Discussions focused on strengthening IBM’s engagement with India and expanding collaboration in artificial intelligence, cloud infrastructure, quantum computing and other emerging technologies.
In his meeting with MetLife President and CEO Michel A. Khalaf, Goyal discussed the company’s growth opportunities in India and the expanding insurance and financial services sector.Goyal further met General Atlantic Chairman and CEO William E. Ford to discuss opportunities to deepen the company’s investment and business engagement with India.He also held talks with AIA Group Non-Executive Chairman Mark Tucker on AIA’s engagement in India and opportunities in the insurance and financial services sectors, including India’s vision of ‘Insurance for All by 2047’.
The meetings provided an opportunity to discuss India’s growth prospects and investment opportunities across financial services, manufacturing, energy, technology, AI and other sectors.Goyal’s engagements are part of his visit to the US, where he also attended the G20 Trade Ministers Meeting. The discussions focused on strengthening India-US economic and commercial ties and encouraging leading US companies to explore investment and partnership opportunities in India.
