India and Vietnam on Wednesday inked several MoUs in the fields of Digital Technology, Rare Earths, Medical Products Regulation, Public Sector Audit, Digital Payment System, and Culture and Tourism. The agreements were signed after the talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President of Vietnam To Lam in New Delhi this afternoon. During the talks, both leaders held wide-ranging discussions across the spectrum of bilateral relations as also on regional and global issues of mutual interest.
In his press statement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, President To Lam’s first State Visit to India after being elected as the President of Vietnam within a month shows how much priority he gives to India -Vietnam relations. He said, to keep the shared heritage alive, India is restoring the My Son and Nhan Tau temples of Vietnam’s ancient Champa civilization. Modi said, now India will also digitize the manuscripts of the Champa civilization and preserve this invaluable heritage for future generations. He said, in the partnership between India and Vietnam, both heritage and development hold significance.
The Prime Minister said, last year, when Buddhist relics from India went to Vietnam, over 1.5 crore people around 15 per cent of Vietnam’s entire population took its darshan. He said, with this MoU between the drug authorities, access to India’s medicines in Vietnam will now increase. Mr Modi said, India’s agriculture, fisheries, and animal products will also see smoother exports to Vietnam. He said, to boost financial connectivity, today both sides have decided to enhance cooperation between the central banks. The Prime Minister said, India’s UPI and Vietnam’s fast payment system are also going to be linked soon. He said, Vietnam is a key pillar of India’s Act East Policy and Vision Ocean. Both sides share a common outlook in the Indo-Pacific region as well.
