Israeli airstrike targets top Hamas leaders in Doha, Qatar condemns

After several explosions were heard in Doha, with Israel saying it had targeted senior Hamas leader, Qatar on Tuesday condemned the Israeli attack which had “targeted residential buildings housing several members of the Political Bureau of Hamas in the Qatari capital.” spokesperson of the Qatari Foreign Ministry said. "This criminal assault constitutes a blatant violation of all international laws and norms, and poses a serious threat to the security and safety of Qataris and residents in Qatar," he added.

The strike against Hamas leaders in Doha was an entirely Israeli operation, says the Prime Minister’s Office in a statement. “Today’s action against the top terrorist chieftains of Hamas was a wholly independent Israeli operation,” writes Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office. “Israel initiated it, Israel conducted it, and Israel takes full responsibility.”

The IDF on Tuesday confirmed an attack on the Hamas leadership in Doha, Qatar. A statement said that the leaders targeted were responsible for the October 7, 2023, massacre of around 1,200 Israelis in the country's South, as well as managing the terror group's operations for years before that. Khalil al-Hayya, the leader of Hamas, was one of the targets of the operations.

A Hamas official in Gaza tells AFP that the Palestinian group’s leaders targeted in Israel’s strike in Doha had gathered to discuss the latest ceasefire proposal. .Palestinian media reports that two people were killed in the Israeli airstrike in Doha, but senior Hamas leaders were not.
