Afghanistan: 3 killed in Kabul hotel shooting

In Afghanistan, Loud blast, shots heard near China guest house in Kabul A Kabul police spokesman told reporters the attack was carried out by "mischievous elements". As per local media report, residents of the Shahr-e Naw area confirmed they heard a blast and sporadic gunfire. According to Tolo news report, the attack on a hotel in the Shar-e-Naw area of Kabul ended with the killing of three attackers, Islamic Emirate Spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said on Twitter.  Gunmen attacked a hotel on Monday in downtown Kabul, in the Shar-e-Naw area. Kabul Security Department’s Spokesman Khalid Zadran said a compound called “Kabul Hotel," in which ordinary people are living, came under attack by “devil” elements. According to Mujahid, all guests have been evacuated and no foreign nationals were killed in the attack.

As per media reports, the hotel is popular with Chinese business visitors, who have flocked to Afghanistan since the Taliban's return in pursuit of high-risk but potentially lucrative business deals. China, which shares a rugged 76-kilometre (47-mile) border with Afghanistan, has not officially recognised the Taliban government but is one of the few countries to maintain a full diplomatic presence there.
