Uttarakhand: Six killed in stampede at Haridwar temple

In Uttarakhand, at least six people were killed and over 25 were injured in a stampede at the Mansa Devi temple in Haridwar on Sunday after a massive crowd gathered along the stairway route of the popular shrine. As per ANI reports, Garhwal Division Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey confirmed the deaths.A rescue and relief operation has been launched and the injured are being taken to hospitals.

Chief Minister Dhami said he is in touch with the local authorities and is closely monitoring the situation. "It is extremely distressing to receive news of a stampede on the route to the Mansa Devi Temple in Haridwar. @uksdrf, local police, and other rescue teams have reached the site and are engaged in relief and rescue operations. I am in constant contact with the local administration regarding this matter, and the situation is being closely monitored. I pray to Mother Goddess for the safety and well-being of all devotees," said  Dhami.
Narrating the incident, an injured devotee from Bihar told news agency ANI that a huge crowd had suddenly gathered at the temple, which led to the stampede. As people tried to jostle their way out of the crowd, he fell and fractured his hand.
