In UP, at least 13 people were killed, and a fire broke out on the Yamuna Expressway in Mathura after eight buses and three cars collided in a pile-up caused by low visibility. 25 people were injured and were taken to the hospital. The incident took place in the Baldev area of Mathura at 4:30 am on Tuesday. According to information, one of the buses involved in the accident was a state roadways bus, and the other six were private sleeper buses. The fire has been brought under control. A dozen fire tenders have reached the spot along with 14 ambulances to transfer the injured to the nearest Community Health Centre in Baldev.

Mathura DM Chandra Prakash Singh said, eight buses, including a state-run bus, were completely gutted by fire. Two smaller vehicles also burned. Additionally, nine other vehicles collided and were damaged. Approximately 70 people were injured, and we took them to various hospitals, and they are all out of danger. Two individuals have been referred to Agra Medical College. So far, only three people have been identified. One is from Gonda, one is from Prayagraj, and one is from Azamgarh, he said.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of those who lost their lives, and directed the best possible treatment to the injured. President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President C P Radhakrishnan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have expressed grief at the loss of lives in a tragic accident on the Yamuna Expressway in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh.
