Union Budget a ‘Next-Generation’ roadmap, says Delhi CM Gupta

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has welcomed the Union Budget, describing it as a forward-looking and “next-generation” roadmap that connects growth with social inclusion and employment generation.Addressing a press conference at the Delhi Secretariat on Monday,following the budget presentation, she said the financial framework reflects a people-centric and development-driven approach under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
The Chief Minister said the budget reflects the Prime Minister’s visionary and far-sighted leadership, reinforcing the commitment to building a developed and self-reliant India. According to her, the proposals provide confidence to all sections of society while maintaining economic stability and addressing public aspirations. “The spirit of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ is clearly visible in this budget. We are working closely with the Centre to implement Delhi’s schemes and to bring additional budgetary support to the capital,” she said.
Highlighting the focus on social sectors, Rekha Gupta said the budget places special emphasis on women and youth. She particularly welcomed the proposal to construct girls’ hostels in every district, calling it an important step towards improving access to education and employment opportunities for women. “Calling this a next-generation budget would not be wrong. There is a strong focus on youth and future-ready growth,” she added.Sharing allocation details, the Chief Minister said Delhi has received an allocation of ₹1,348 crore in the Union Budget. She noted that a combined outlay of around ₹15,000 crore has been earmarked for Delhi, Puducherry and Jammu and Kashmir, compared to about ₹6,000 crore earlier. “We will make efforts to ensure Delhi gets the maximum possible share. I also thank Union Home Minister Amit Shah for increasing the allocation for the Delhi Police,” she said.
Rekha Gupta further pointed out that allocations under central schemes have risen to over ₹13,000 crore, which is expected to benefit Delhi significantly. She said 49 Central Sector Schemes are currently operational in the capital and that Delhi will receive its due share from the funds allocated to these programmes. Budgets for central hospitals, including AIIMS, have also been enhanced, she added.CM said higher allocations for education, health and the environment would support long-term development, while increased funding for sports would benefit youth. The Chief Minister also highlighted provisions related to green energy, concessions on machinery for battery manufacturing and incentives for electric vehicles as steps that would support sustainable growth. In addition, the ₹10,000 crore allocation for small traders is expected to provide relief and support to Delhi’s business community.Calling the budget aligned with the goals of Viksit Bharat 2047 and Viksit Delhi, Rekha Gupta said the Delhi government would continue to work in coordination with the Union government to translate these provisions into tangible outcomes for the people of the national capital.
