Punjab:11 killed in Ferozepur road accident

In Punjab, at least 11 people have died and 15 are injured in a road accident in Ferozepur on Friday. According to the official sources, a collision between a pickup truck and a canter resulted in the death of many people who were travelling in the pickup truck.According to the police, about 25 to 30 people were in the pickup truck. They were travelling from Guru Har Sahai to Jalalabad to attend a programme when the accident occurred near Golu Ka Mod within the Guru Har Sahai Assembly constituency area. All passengers in the pickup truck were returning after working at a marriage palace in Jalalabad.
The canter truck appeared to have been halted in the middle of the road, the police said, adding that the impact of the accident was so severe that the five men died on the spot. The injured have been admitted to the nearest hospitals in Ferozepur and Faridkot. Chief Minister, Bhagwant Mann has expressed grief over the tragedy and announced financial aid also. As per the information given by the local MLA Fauja Singh Sarari, Rs.2 lac has been announced as financial assistance to the families whose ward have died in the accident while Rs.50,000 to each injured persons.
