Odisha: Chouhan launches PMGSY projects in Rayagada

Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday launched 827 road projects worth Rs 1,698 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY)-IV in Odisha’s Rayagada district in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. Chouhan handed over the PMGSY-IV approval letter to Majhi, in the presence of state Rural Development Minister Rabi Narayan Naik.  "Under the initiative, 827 road projects covering 1,701 km will be taken up at a cost of Rs 1,698.04 crore," the Union minister said. Chouhan said the government remains committed to ensuring that no poor family lives in a kutcha house, while emphasising that roads act as lifelines for employment, education and healthcare. Chouhan said,the Agriculture Infra Fund, the expansion of warehouses and godowns, and the establishment of Seed Grams (Seed Villages) will be undertaken to provide better storage and quality seeds in Odisha.

Majhi described the initiatives as transformative, stating they would accelerate the state’s “Samruddha Odisha, Viksit Odisha” mission by strengthening infrastructure, empowering women and enhancing farmers’ incomes. 
The Centre further approved Rs 630.61 crore for completing pending rural houses under PMAY-G, Rs 868.71 crore as the first instalment under MGNREGA for 2026–27, and Rs 30.07 crore under WDC-PMKSY 2.0 for watershed development.
