Maharashtra: BJP-led Mahayuti set to form govt

In Maharashtra, the Mahayuti has retained the power in the state. The Mahayuti's win ensure the MVA route. The ruling alliance - led by the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party factions led by Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar - was ahead in 223 of the state's 288 seats at 1 pm, and The Maha Vikas Aghadi - fronted the Congress and the Sena and NCP groups led by Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar - is ahead in just 56. Non-aligned parties are leading in nine. Within the Mahayuti, it is the BJP that is ahead; the saffron party is leading in 125 of the 149 seats it is contesting. PM Modi, Amit Shah bhai, Nadda ji - all supported us. They gave priority to Maharashtra. I am proud that I have been proven right about what I had said that we will win 200 seats. We (Mahayuti) fought like a team," he said.

Shiv Sena (UBT) is not rredy to digest the defeat. The party leader Sanjay Raut on Saturday alleged that there was a "big conspiracy" and something was "fishy" in the Maharashtra assembly poll results with trends suggesting a landslide victory for the Mahayuti combine. Talking to reporters in Mumbai, he said the poll results do not reflect people's mandate as the situation was very different on the ground and there was palpable anger against the government. There was no doubt that money was used in the polls, he alleged. "How can all MLAs of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde win? How can Ajit Pawar, whose betrayal angered Maharashtra, win?" the Rajya Sabha MP asked.
