Himachal: 10 dead in Kinnaur landslide,vehicles trapped

In Himachal Pradesh, at least 10 persons have died and around 30 are missing after a landslide in Kinnaur on Wednesday afternoon left several vehicles buried under debris. The Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus was carrying over 30 passengers and got buried under the debris along with other vehicles. A few vehicles are feared to have skidded off the road and fallen into the Sutlej River flowing below.

Over 300 ITBP personnel are carrying out a rescue operation at Kinnaur landslide site in Himachal Pradesh. So far, 10 persons have been rescued in the operation. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur told reporters that the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) had also been called in. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to Thakur and assured him of all possible help, according to the government.

BJP president JP Nadda has said, "Landslide in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh is extremely disturbing as many people are reported to be trapped.  I request the party workers to extend all possible help in affected areas. My prayers for the well being of the people."
