Gujarat Police, under the guidance of DGP G.S. Malik, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with multi-state cooperative society Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited, operating as Bharat Taxi, to strengthen public safety, traffic management and secure urban mobility across the state.The partnership aims to enhance the safety and efficiency of urban transportation through digital integration of the Bharat Taxi platform with Gujarat Police systems. The initiative will focus on improving passenger security, ensuring transparent operations and promoting responsible driving practices.
According to information,as part of the agreement, an SOS emergency response feature will be integrated into the Bharat Taxi application. The facility will be directly connected with the Gujarat Police control room, allowing passengers to seek immediate assistance during emergencies. The feature is expected to provide additional safety support, especially for women, senior citizens and other vulnerable commuters.Under the MoU, all drivers associated with Bharat Taxi will undergo official police verification and KYC checks by Gujarat Police to ensure greater transparency and strengthen passenger confidence. The initiative will also include specialised awareness and training programmes for drivers on traffic rules, road safety measures and responsible driving behaviour.The collaboration further includes joint public awareness campaigns aimed at encouraging citizens to adopt safe, reliable and technology-enabled transport services.

According to the agreement, Gujarat Police will extend support in maintaining law and order, conducting driver verification and providing assistance through its control room network. Bharat Taxi will manage and operate the digital transport platform, ensuring smooth implementation of the initiative.To oversee the execution of the project, Gujarat Police will appoint a dedicated nodal officer responsible for coordinating driver verification processes, traffic safety initiatives, branding activities and training programmes.The digital partnership is expected to contribute towards safer, greener and more dependable urban mobility while making daily commuting more secure and convenient for citizens across Gujarat.
