The 66th foundation day of Gujarat wa celebrated in Surat with grand fervour. The celebrations commenced in the evening with a magnificent police parade at the Y-Junction in the city. Governor Acharya Devvrat, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, and Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi witnessed the parade. The diamond city of Surat is witnessing grand state-level celebrations for ‘Gujarat Gaurav Day’ on Friday May 1.

Over 250 artists performed in a light and sound show depicting Surat’s journey from its historical roots to its current status as a global hub. During the ceremony, the ‘Gujarat Garima Awards’ was conferred upon eminent personalities, and two books documenting the district’s progress was also released. CM Patel handed over cheques worth Rs7.50 crore were handed over to accelerate development works in Surat city and district.
