In Jammu & Kashmir, four CISF personnel, including an Assistant Commandant, were killed after a head constable allegedly opened fire at his colleagues inside a CISF camp in Basohli, Kathua on Tuesday. According to Kathua Senior Superintendent of Police Mohita Sharma. the accused was arrested following the firing incident which took place around 7:30pm. Those killed included assistant commandant Ankit Kumar Pandey, SI Lakshman Singh, and constables Rafiq Ahmed and Sandeep Kumar. All four succumbed to their injuries after being admitted to NHPC Hospital in Himachal Pradesh.
The accused CISF personnel, head constable Abhidesh Singh, was overpowered by his other colleagues and arrested after the incident. He had used an AK-47 to fire upon his colleagues. He was carrying 150 rounds of ammunition, according to the CISF. The service weapon has also been seized following the incident. The incident took place at the CISF unit deployed at the Sewa Power Project in Mashka village in Basohli, following an argument. The Sewa Power Project is a hydroelectric power station located in the village on the Sewa River which is a tributary of the Ravi.
