The Central Election Committee of BJP has cleared the list of candidates for the Assam and Kerala Assembly elections. The BJP on Thursday released its first list of 88 candidates for the Assam assembly polls, including Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma from Jalukbari seat. The party named former Congress leader Pradyut Bordoloi as its candidate from Dispur assembly seat. Bordoloi joined the BJP in the presence of Sarma and other party leaders on Wednesday. According to the list, Bhupen Kumar Borah, who also joined the BJP recently after leaving the Congress, will contest from Bihpura seat. Former Lok Sabha MP Dr Rajdeep Roy will fight from Silchar, while sitting Rajya Sabha MP Rameswar Teli has been fielded from the Duliajan seat. Former State BJP chief Ranjeet Kumar Dass will contest from Bhowanipur-Sobhog seat and Speaker in the present assembly Biswajit Daimary will fight from Tamulpur constituency. Assam will vote for assembly polls on 9th April in a single phase.

The BJP on Thursday also released its second list of 39 candidates for the Keralam Assembly Polls. Former state BJP chief Kummanam Rajasekharan will contest from Aranmula seat. Party has fielded Ashwini ML from Kasaragod, Renu Suresh from Kongad and B Radhakrishna Menon from Changanassery.Notably, six women have been included in the second list, taking the total number of women nominees to 13, seven of whom were named in the first list.

Earlier this week, the Party had released its first list of 47 candidates for Keralam assembly polls. Assembly polls will be held in a single phase in Kerala on 9th of next month.
