BJP is leading in 81 seats, ruling Biju Janata Dal in 47 and Congress in 14, Independents in 2 and CPI(M) in 1 seat. BJD President and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is leading in the Hinjili Assembly constituency but trailing behind BJP’s Laxman Bag in Kantabanji assembly constituency.BJP has won two seats and already crossed the majic figure of 74.Ruling Biju Janta dal suffered a big blow.
The BJP is doing extremely well in northern, southern and western Odisha where it fought on its poll plank of Odia Asmita (Odia pride) as it targeted Naveen Patnaik’s deputy VK Pandian, a Tamil Nadu-born former IAS officer who it claimed would succeed the five-time chief minister.
