Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde on Monday filed his nomination to contest the upcoming assembly election from the Kopri-Pachpakhadi constituency in Thane. He is sitting MLA from this seat.The Shiv Sena leader filed his nomination following a roadshow. Prominent leaders from Shiv Sena and NCP, along with Union minister Ramdas Athawale of RPI (A), also joined Shinde while submitting the nomination.

The Uddhav led sena has fielded Kedar Dighe against CM Shinde.In the 2019 election, before the Shiv Sena split, Eknath Shinde won the Kopri-Pachpakhadi seat with over 65 per cent of the vote.
Earlier on Monday, Deputy Chief Minister and NCP chief Ajit Pawar also filed his nomination papers from the Baramati assembly seat. Yugendra Pawar, Ajith Pawar's nephew and grandson of Sharad Pawar, is the rival candidate from the seat as the NCP-SP candidate.
