World Athletics championships 2025: Neeraj Chopra knocked out

Defending champion Neeraj Chopra eliminated from World Championship in Tokyo after fifth round of finals. Chopra manages best effort of 84.03m that left him eighth in overall standings. Arshad Nadeem remained 10th after round 4 and was knocked out. Neeraj Chopra (84.03m) and Arshad (82.75m) barely made it to the top 10 after the first three rounds. 2012 Olympic gold medalist Keshorn Walcott (87.83m) is leading. Defending champion Neeraj makes a foul throw. He will remain eight. Does not make the top 6.

The result marked a rare setback in Chopra’s glittering career. For the first time in seven years, he failed to win a medal at an international competition. It also ended his remarkable four-year streak of finishing in the top two at every major event he entered.

India’s Sachin Yadav, however, remains fourth and in the hunt for a medal. After qualifying for the world championship final with a single throw on Wednesday at Tokyo.
