Manu Bhaker finishes 11th, ends Asian Games without medal

India’s double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker ended her Asian Games 2026 campaign without a medal after finishing 11th in the women’s 25m pistol qualification event in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, on Monday.Bhaker, who competed in the women’s 10m air pistol and 25m pistol individual and team events, was among India’s leading medal contenders following her success at the Paris Olympics.
In the women’s 25m pistol qualification, Bhaker scored 579-18x to finish 11th and missed out on a place in the eight-shooter final. Esha Singh qualified for the final and finished eighth with a score of 580-22x, while Rahi Sarnobat placed 30th with 568-16x.

Bhaker also featured in the 25m pistol team event alongside Esha Singh and Rahi Sarnobat. The Indian trio finished fifth in the final with a score of 1727-56x. China won gold with 1743-68x, followed by South Korea with silver at 1735-65x and Chinese Taipei with bronze at 1734-48x.Earlier, Bhaker missed the 10m air pistol individual final after finishing fifth in qualification with 181.1 points. India also narrowly missed a team medal, finishing fourth.Shooting has been one of India’s strongest disciplines at the Games, with the country winning 11 medals, including one gold, six silver and four bronze.Bhaker had entered the Asian Games in strong form, having won bronze at the 2026 ISSF World Cup in Hangzhou, silver in the 10m air pistol mixed team event at the Munich World Cup, and an individual silver in the women’s 25m pistol at the Asian Shooting Championships.
