Indian Women’s Kabaddi Team Wins Gold at Asian Games 2026

India’s women’s kabaddi team clinched the gold medal at the Asian Games 2026 on Saturday, defeating Iran 37-34 in a thrilling final to secure the country’s fourth Asian Games title in the women’s event.

India dominated the opening half and led 22-16 at the break. Iran fought back strongly in the second half, outscoring India 18-15, but the six-point deficit proved decisive as India held on to win the gold.Following the triumph, the Indian team took a victory lap around the arena and chanted “Vande Mataram” to celebrate their title win.
The victory also marked India’s return to the top in women’s kabaddi after they had settled for silver at the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games following a defeat to Iran.India have now won the women’s kabaddi gold at every Asian Games edition except Jakarta 2018.
The Indian men’s team will have an opportunity to complete a golden double later on Saturday when they face Iran in the men’s final.India have traditionally dominated kabaddi at the continental showpiece, with the men’s and women’s teams winning gold at almost every edition. The men’s team reclaimed the title at the 2023 Hangzhou Games after Iran ended their winning run at Jakarta 2018.
