Asian Games: Gulveer Singh wins silver in men's 10,000M

India's Gulveer Singh on Friday won silver medal in men's 10,000M at Asian Games in Nagoya.He finished the race in a time of 28:29.38. Just a couple of months ago, Gulveer had won silver at the Commonwealth Game.The silver adds another major medal to Gulveer's collection this year after he had also finished second at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Gulveer's silver came a day after Seema Kumari won bronze in the women's 10,000m, ending India's 16-year wait for a medal in the event.

Gulveer, who had won bronze at the previous edition of the Asian Games in Hangzhou, finished second behind Bahrain's Birhanu Balew, who claimed the gold in 28:27.51 minutes. Bahrain's Albert Kipto completed the podium with a time of 28:34.18 minutes.

Indian athlete Baranica Elangovan won the bronze medal in the women’s pole vault at the Asian Games at Aichi-Nagoya in Japan. This marks country’s first-ever medal in the pole vault event at the Asian Games. The 29-year-old athlete secured the podium finish with a best clearance of 4.15 metres.
