The 40th All India Police Equestrian Championship and Horsemen Police Duty Meet concluded on Monday. ITBP hosted the Championship at its Basic Training Centers (BTC), Panchkula.Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, Banwarilal Purohit attended the closing ceremony. Addressing the gathering, Purohit Governor lauded the role of the Armed Forces in leading with courage and enthusiasm during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many welfare works are being done by you under the Civic Action and Border Area Development Program to instill a sense of confidence and security in the minds of the people in the border areas.The Governor also recognized the major campaigns of the Government of India and is making the general public aware about them. He took active part in campaigns like Amrit Mahotsav of Azadi, Kovid-19 public awareness movement, vaccination campaign, environmental protection, tree plantation and cleanliness etc.
Sanjay Arora, DG ITBP welcomed the Chief Guest and elaborated on the Championship. He said that the Force will continue to organize All India Police Championships whenever it is entrusted with such a responsibility in future. The ITBP emerged as overall champion with 25 medals with 12 Golds, 8 Silver and 5 Bronze medals. Rajasthan Police won the runner up trophy with 8 medals including 4 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze medals. The Assam Rifles won the 2nd runner up trophy with 10 medals with 3 Gold, 3 Silver and 4 Bronze medals. Total 18 teams took part at the Championship.
