Urge PM to take appropriate decision: Nitish after Caste Census meet

A delegation of 11 parties, led by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, on Monday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi over the issue of the caste-based census. Among those parts of the delegation are RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav, who is the Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, and BJP leader and state minister Janak Ram.After meeting, Nitish Kumar said that the Prime minister heard the demand of the delegation. He said that the delegation briefed Modi on how resolutions have been passed twice in the state Assembly on Caste census. The CM assert that people in Bihar and the entire country are of the same opinion on this issue. "We are grateful to the PM for listening to us. Now, he has to take a decision on it," he said. 

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav stressed that the delegation met the PM ,not only for caste census in the state but in the entire country. "We are awaiting a decision on this now," he said. The demand for caste-based census has been a longstanding one. Former Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav has also been demanding caste based census to bring out the population of different caste groups. Recently, NCP chief Sharad Pawar had also backed the demand for the caste-based census.
