Kirti Azad, Ashok Tanwar & Pavan Verma join TMC

Expelled Janata Dal (United) leader Pavan Varma and the Congress' Kirti Azad and Ashok Tanwar joined the Trinamool Congress in Delhi on Tuesday evening in the presence of Mamata Banerjee, in a move that marks the Bengal Chief Minister's first foray into Bihar. After joining the TMC, Kirti Azad said the BJP is doing divisive politics and the country needs somebody to steer it towards the right direction.Mamata Banerjee has that leadership and taht is the reaso I have decided to join TMC, he added.

This is his third political party. Kirti Azad is a three-time Lok Sabha MP from Darbhanga in Bihar. He was in the BJP before joining the Congress in 2019. He was suspended from the BJP in 2015.  Ashok Tanwar (45), who also joined the TMC on Tuesday, is a former president of the Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC). Tanwar has also served as a Lok Sabha MP from Sirsa in Haryana. Tanwar had in 2019 quit the Congress to float 'Apna Bharat Morcha'.After he joined the TMC on Tuesday, party chief Mamata Banerjee told reporters, "I want to go to Haryana. I will go as soon as Ashok ji calls me. Thank you for taking this decision for the country, to defeat the BJP."
