Winning Streak continues, Sensex breaches 79,000 mark

The Indian stock market continued its upward trajectory, with the Sensex extending its record run to the third consecutive session on Thursday,on the day of monthly F&O expiry. While Sensex breached the 79,000 mark, Nifty crossed 24,000 for the first time ever supported by Information Technology and energy names.BSE Sensex and Nifty50 indices reach new record highs of 79,396.03 and 24,087.45,respectively, reflecting robust investor confidence and positive market sentiment.The Nifty Bank index also hit a fresh record high of 53,180.75.

At close, the Sensex was up 568.93 points or 0.72 percent at 79,243.18, and the Nifty was up 175.70 points or 0.74 percent at 24,044.50. About 1128 shares advanced, 2240 shares declined, and 93 shares unchanged.
Highlights from trade: 
●UltraTech, RIL power D-St shares to record highs,
●UltraTech Cement to buy 23% stake in India Cements,
●India Cements rally nearly 14% to cross $1 bn m-cap,
●9.6% equity of CSB Bank traded via block deal; stock up 5%.
UltraTech Cement, Grasim Industries, LTIMindtree, Wipro and NTPC were the top gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Shriram Finance, L&T, Eicher Motors, Bajaj Auto and Divis Lab.
On the sectoral front, IT and Power indices rose 1.7 percent each, while PSU Bank index was down 1 percent.The BSE midcap index ended flat, while the smallcap index shed 0.5 percent.
Rupee Close:
On 27 June'24,the Indian rupee appreciated 11 paise  at 83.46 against the US dollar on Thursday as crude oil prices retreated from their elevated levels.Forex traders said the strength of the American currency in the overseas market and foreign fund outflows weighed on the local unit and restricted the upmove.
