In shooting, India on Sunday won two gold and a silver medal on the third day of the ISSF World Cup being held in New Delhi. While the Indian women and men's teams won gold medals in the 10m Air Pistol events, a trio of Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Deepak Kumar and Pankaj Kumar won silver in the men’s team air rifle event. The Indian women's trio of Manu Bhaker, Yashaswini Singh Deswal and Shri Nivetha Paramanantham outclassed their Polish opponents 16-8 to secure the gold medal. The men's team, comprising Saurabh Chaudhary, Shahzar Rizvi and Abhishek Verma beat their Vietnamese counterparts 17-11 to secure another gold for India.
In the men's air rifle event, Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Deepak Kumar and Pankaj Kumar settled for silver after the trio shot a total of 14 in the gold medal round while the winning team of Lucas Kozeniesky, William Shaner and Timothy Sherry of the United States shot 16 to win the gold medal.India now leads the medals tally ahead of the USA with eight medals. So far, India has won three gold medals in its kitty, the joint highest with the USA. India also has three silver medals and two bronze medals.As many as 294 shooters from 53 countries, including hosts India, Denmark, Singapore, USA, United Kingdom, Iran, Ukraine, Italy, Thailand, France and Hungary are participating in the tournament.
In para-shooting, Indian para-athlete Singhraj won gold medal in the 2021 World Shooting Para Sport World Cup being held at Al Ain in the UAE today. He defeated Uzbekistan's Server Ibragimov to get the top honour in the P1 - Men's 10m Air Pistol SH1 final. Singhraj pipped Rio 2016 bronze medallist Ibragimov by a thin margin of 2.8 points. The final score read 236.8-234. Turkey's former Paralympic champion Muharrem Korhan Yamaç took the bronze with 214.4 points. With this, India has moved to third place in the medals table. India has now two medals in its list - one gold and one bronze.
