The process of filing of nominations has begun with the issuance of notification for the third Phase of Assembly Elections in the states of Assam and West Bengal. In Assam and West Bengal, it is also the last date for the withdrawal of candidature for the First Phase of Assembly Elections while the filing of nominations closes for the Second Phase on Friday.Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Suvendu Adhikari on Friday has filed his nomination papers for the Nandigram battle. He says, “CM is standing against me for the election. Don’t worry, I will defeat her.”
In Tamil Nadu, DMK leader M.K.Stalin released the names of 173 candidates of his party. MK Stalin is contesting from Kolathur Constiutuency in Chennai. His son Udhayanidhi will contest from Chepauk.Veteran Tamil actor Kamal Haasan and founder of the Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM), will be contesting the upcoming state Assembly polls from the Coimbatore South constituency. He made the announcement on Friday while releasing his party's second list of candidates. On Wednesday, MNM had released the first list of 70 candidates for the polls. The MNM has struck an alliance with actor Sarathkumar's All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi and Indhiya Jananayaga Katchi. Both allies will contest in 40 seats each, while it looks out in 154 seats. In Tamil Nadu filing of nomination for the 234 Assembly constituencies began from Frisay. March 19 is the last date for the filing of nomination and scrutiny will take place on March 20. The last date for the withdrawal of candidature is March 22.
