In Uttar Pradesh death reports of 44 children in Firozabad district within two weeks has sent shock waves across the State. Chief Medical Officer of the district has been removed for his alleged negligence in providing medical help to the victims.Chief Minister Sri Yogi Adityanath has initiated an inquiry into the matter. Ruling party's local MLA Manish Asija has also said that the death toll rise due to suspected dengue in the district.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has visited Firozabad on Monday and met some suspected dengue patients admitted at hospital. He has said that the cause of the deaths will be probed by a team of experts from Lucknow based King George's Medical University. He has confirmed that the first death due to dengue-like fever was reported on August 18 in the district. A team of 15 doctors has arrived here from Lucknow, and held a meeting with officials of the district administration and the health department. It also conducted tests in the affected areas of the district. A group of medical experts have suspected that fatalities are to be a result of a dengue outbreak.
Taking precautionary measures, District Magistrate has ordered the closure of all schools for classes 1 to 8 till September 6. As per order issued by the District Magistrate coaching institutions will also remain closed and strict action will be taken against the violators.Some of the districts in western Uttar Pradesh, including Mathura, Firozabad and Mainpuri, witnessed a spike in cases of “viral fever” which sent alarm bells ringing in neighbouring distris also.
