Shravan symbolises public welfare, togetherness and service:CM Yogi

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday described the holy month of Shravan as a festival of public welfare, togetherness and respect for labour, urging people to dedicate the month to service, cleanliness, water conservation, environmental protection and social participation.
In a message to the people of the state, Adityanath said Shravan reflects the values of harmony, hard work and spiritual discipline, while the worship of Lord Shiva inspires restraint, sacrifice and selfless service.
Referring to the legend of Samudra Manthan, he said Lord Shiva's act of consuming the Halahal poison symbolises sacrifice for the protection of creation, while offering water to the deity represents gratitude and public welfare. He also highlighted Lord Shiva's association with nature through symbols such as the Ganga, the crescent moon, the serpent and Nandi, calling them reminders of harmonious coexistence with the environment.
Emphasising the importance of water conservation, the Chief Minister said Uttar Pradesh has developed nearly 20,000 Amrit Sarovars under various initiatives and stressed that public participation is essential to address the challenges of climate change and groundwater depletion. He cited a rainwater harvesting initiative in Lucknow as an example of community-led conservation.Calling for greater environmental awareness, Adityanath urged citizens to make Shravan "a month of service, cleanliness, water conservation, environmental protection and social participation.""Respect every drop and protect every plant. This is the true message of Shravan and the foundation of a prosperous, safe and developed Uttar Pradesh," he said.
