Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said that the next generation GST reforms will make the taxation system more efficient, equitable and growth-oriented. She said, the government is committed to make life easier for the honest taxpayer. Inaugurating the new CGST Bhawan in Ghaziabad on Friday, the Minister said, efficient taxation system will boost the economic growth. She said, GST Council has approved measures to simplify the GST registration process, making it easier, seamless, and more transparent and this will come into effect from 1st of next month. She said, automatic registration will be granted within three working days to those applicants whose monthly output tax liability does not exceed two lakh 50 thousand rupees. She said, this reform is expected to benefit nearly 96 per cent of new applicants.She urged officials to maintain the momentum of reforms, adding, “Our ultimate goal is to make life easier for the honest taxpayer.”
CBIC and CGST Field formations should not lose sight of the essence of the Next-Generation reforms and maintain the momentum of reforms.

The Minister said, GST Seva Kendras to be well-staffed, accessible, and properly maintained, ensuring that taxpayers receive timely and quality assistance. Sitharaman said that India’s festive retail sales have reached a record high this year, reflecting the positive impact of the government’s economic reforms, including the rationalisation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates.
