दधाना करपद्माभ्यामक्षमालाकमण्लू।
देवी प्रसीदतु मयि ब्रह्मचारिण्यनुत्तमा॥
On the second day of Sharadiya Navratri, Goddess Brahmacharini is worshipped. She is known as the Goddess of discipline and penance. Worship on this day blesses the devotee with austerity, renunciation, detachment, good conduct, and self-restraint. In her right hand, Mother Brahmacharini holds a rosary, and in her left hand, she carries a water pot (kamandalu).
Why is she called Brahmacharini?
According to the scriptures, it is believed that Goddess Durga, in the form of Parvati, was born as the daughter of the mountain king. On the advice of Narada, Parvati accepted Lord Shiva as her husband and performed severe penance to ttain him. After performing penance for thousands of years, she came to be known as Tapacharini or Brahmacharini. The second day of Navratri is worshipped as a symbol of this great penance.
The essence is that even in the most difficult struggles of life, the mind should not waver. By worshipping Mother Brahmacharini, one can bring wealth, prosperity, and happiness into life.
The devotee who worships this Goddess attains victory. If one desires assured success in any endeavor, then today one should chant the mantra of Goddess Brahmacharini.
Mantra: "ॐ ऐं ह्रीं क्लीं ब्रह्मचारिण्यै नमः ।"
This mantra should be recited at least one mala (108 times). It ensures success in various tasks.
While worshipping Goddess Brahmacharini, hold a red flower in your hands, meditate on her, and recite the mantra with devotion.
