Several members of the Indian contingent to Tokyo Olympics including Gold medalist Neeraj Chopra, Silver medalist Ravi Kumar Dahiya, Bronze Medalists Bajrang Punia and Lovlina Borgohain on Monday returned to India. They were received by family members and supporters at the IGI Airport in New Delhi. Later, at an event in the evening, Sports Minister Anurag Thakur, Law Minister Kiren Rijiju, Minister of State for Sports Nisith Pramanik, Sports Secretary Ravi Mittal, Indian Olympic Association President Narinder Batra felicitated the medal winners Neeraj Chopra, Ravi Kumar Dahiya, Bajrang Punia, Lovlina Borgohain and Men's Hockey team.
In his address, Thakur said, this time biggest ever Indian contingent was sent to Tokyo and they got highest ever medals in the olympics. He said, after 121 years India got medal in track and field and that too Gold. The Minister said, after 41 years India got medal in Hockey and Indian women's hockey team qualified for the first time and fought very well in the semifinals. He also mentioned about Golfer Aditi Ashok, sabre fencer C A Bhavani Devi, Sailor Nethra Kumanan who did very well in the Olympics.
