In Karnataka, seven people, including three children, were killed when the compound wall of a hospital collapsed on Wednesday, police said. The incident occurred in the Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital in Bengaluru, they added. When the heavy rains, coupled with strong winds, battered the area, the seven victims were taking shelter near the wall, which suddenly came down crashing, police further said. All seven people were killed on the spot, they added.Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemath Kumar Singh visited the spot. Singh said the wall collapsed due to the heavy rains that lashed the city for over an hour.

Bengaluru witnessed a dramatic spell of weather on Tuesday evening, with intense rain, gusty winds and even hailstorms reported from several parts of the city, while other areas remained surprisingly dry. Rain and hail were reported from Shantinagar, Lalbagh, Wilson Garden, Jayanagar, MG Road, Shivajinagar, Majestic, Malleswaram, JP Nagar, Basavanagudi and surrounding localities. Trinity Circle and parts of central Bengaluru also witnessed hailstones. In central Bengaluru, stretches around MG Road and Residency Road experienced sudden bursts of rain. However, not all parts of the city shared the same experience. Localities such as Gottigere and Anjanapura saw little to no rainfall.
According to report, rainwater entered the premises of Vidhana Soudha, including the first-floor corridor and the office of the Leader of the Opposition. Files, computers and furniture were reportedly affected. Waterlogging was also reported at the KSRTC hospital. The India Meteorological Department had earlier forecast rain on April 29 and 30 and issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms with strong winds across parts of Karnataka.
