Sensex slips 116 pts, Nifty below 26,150 as IT weighs

The domestic share market indices traded marginally lower in the volatile session on Wednesday.At close, the Sensex was down 116.14 points or 0.14 percent at 85,408.70, and the Nifty was down 35.05 points or 0.13 percent at 26,142.10. About 1693 shares advanced, 2154 shares declined, and 118 shares unchanged.
Trent, Shriram Finance, Apollo Hospitals, UltraTech Cement, Adani Ports were the top gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Interglobe Aviation, Wipro, Dr Reddy's Labs, Sun Pharma, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles.On the sectoral front, except media and metal, all other sectoral indices ended in the red with Information Technology, Oil & Gas, Pharma, PSU Bank down 0.4% each.The BSE midcap index was down 0.4 percent and smallcap index ended flat.
Rupee Close: 
On 24 Dec'25,the Indian rupee ended 0.1% lower from previous close at 89.78 against the US dollar on Wednesday.

Gold extended its rally on a softer dollar and elevated geopolitical risks, supported by increasing expectations of continued Fed policy easing. Meanwhile, Brent crude hovered near multi year lows, reinforcing a benign inflation outlook. Looking ahead, market activity is likely to remain muted, though investors will be closely tracking developments on the trade front.
Market experts recommended five shares to buy on Wednesday- GMR Airports, NLC India, JK Tyre & Industries, Affle 3i, and Sarda Energy & Minerals.
