Sensex settles 2500 pts lower, Nifty at 23,002 amid weak global cues

The domestic share market indices witnessed a steep sell-off on Thursday, falling over 3%, as the Sensex crashed around 2,500 points and the Nifty slipped close near the 23,000 level, snapping out gains from the previous three sessions.At close the Sensex news down 2496.89 points or 3.26 at 74,207.24 and the Nifty was down 775.65 points or 3.26 percent at 23,002.15.
ONGC, Reliance Industries and Coal India were the top gainers on the Nifty , rising up to 2 perent, while losers included HDFC Bank, ETERNAL and Shriram Finance.
